The new DEA Production Hub
DEA Italian Worklab creates a new Industrial Hub.
It’s here: a technological gem for producing Made in Italy design-led furniture for the manufacturing and automotive sectors.
We’ll show how DEA internally handles every step of the process: from sourcing raw materials to produce its furniture modules, to the end packaging.
The concept of a Production Hub in Italy
Every successful venture starts with an idea, and behind every idea there is always the hard work and total dedication of an entrepreneur.
Like Lino Di Betta, CEO and President of DEA Italian Worklab. Two years ago, at the height of the pandemic, having observed the global struggle to source raw materials for the manufacturing sector, he realised that creating a new, modern, cutting-edge production hub would strengthen an already unique business producing Made in Italy technical furniture for industry and workshops.
Creating an industrial hub means being able to handle all the phases of the production process:
- Sourcing raw materials
- Cutting
- Welding
- Bending
- Spraying
- Assembly
- Packaging
These are followed by the transport, installation and final testing of the furnishing, which has always been a hallmark of DEA’s “Turnkey” installation service.
DEA's aim has always been to offer the best service possible to its customers, leaving absolutely nothing to chance. The creation of this new production hub means we have developed our range of services even further.
Where to locate the new production hub?
Planning the creation of an industrial hub for furnishing means relying on the know-how of experts specialising in furniture production.
There was therefore a need to found a cutting-edge centre of production in an area where specialists in the production and assembly of furniture are readily available.
The Marche region, in Central Italy, is considered the home of Made in Italy furniture, and for DEA this made it the obvious choice for the location of the new production hub, drawing on the expertise of local experts.
And so DEA laid the foundations for its new production hub in Fano, in the province of Pesaro-Urbino, in the Marche region, calling on the best experts in the area to create furniture for the industrial and automotive sectors.
Government incentives
The decision to found an automated production facility was aided by support from the Italian government for the purchase of technologically advanced machinery, in accordance with the principles of Industry 4.0.
All DEA machinery for the production of furniture modules are controlled by computerised systems, interconnected for the exchange of information with the company’s internal IT systems via international standard protocols (ref. Circular N.4/E of 30/03/2017).
How long the new industrial hub took to establish
In just three months DEA saw its Industrial Hub take shape:
- 15,000 sq m of factory space
- Warehouse with wide range of raw materials
- Separate zones for cutting, welding and bending
- 1 powder coating facility (20 minutes per finished piece!)
- 3 assembly lines
- 1 line for end packaging
After reclaiming and converting various decommissioned warehouses in accordance with the principles of the circular economy, DEA created its new hub in record time, beginning production at the new site just as quickly.
